got some greenish cypress for a pergola….6×6, 4×6, 3×4.
Won’t be using them for a month.
What is the best way to store (prevent as much bowing as possible) till then…band tight, stain now, etc.
Thanks

some pretty heavy...others not so heavy...not kiln dried but not heavy as all get out.
Application is outdoors pergola. Florida
IMERC's point of out of the sun is the most important (reduces checking). Some air circulation will aid drying. Best bet is measure the mc of each stick. Allows you to predict movement.
If they want to move during mc change, you're not going to stop them. Sometimes makes joinery interesting.
Knew a guy here with green beams who pinned his post tenons high. Beams shrank enough there was a sizeable gap under them. All the weight borne by the pins.

The air by me is so dry that green wood pretty much explodes from checking. When I am letting lumber even out, I will coat the ends with a sealing primer so that they won't wick out moisture faster than the middle. Then I keep them in shade, supported and seperated. The top pieces get weighted so the don't strat going in new and interesting directions.
