Hi
Any advice please on the resawing, air/kiln drying and working with greenheart? A supply of old 12″ X 12″ beams has become available and any advice on this timber would be much appreciated.

You might want to post this over at the Knots forum. There are a couple of wood experts that hang out over there.
*Peter,Greenheart is a super dense tropical hardwood, used a lot for marine applications. It is so dense even the sawdust will not float in water. My experience is limited to seeing it installed as bumpers on the lock panels at Lock & Dam #13 on the Mississippi River. I'd resaw limestone before I put that stuff through anything I owned. Seriously, post this over at Knots where someone like Jon Arno, who really knows a thing or five about wood, can help you.Eric
*Peter,The folks (Ken Sporogue) at Greenhart Durawoods Inc. in Bayville, NJ would be a GREAT source of info as (I bet you guessed) they import this matl. along with Pau Lope®. They do have an 800# although I do not have it right now (800-555-1212 for info) but their website is http://www.paulope.com.Tom Gorr
