What is a good brand of penetrating sealer for grout? This is for a bathroom shower.
Most of the sealers I see are water-based, which is probably easier to apply and clean up, but it doesn’t seem like a good choice for a shower.
I’d rather use a sealer that is not water-soluble but lasts longer, even it is more work to apply.

Aqualux makes good sealer products.
Regardless of the delivery medium (water or other), you're really interested in the film that is deposited on the surface of the grout - that's the sealer. The water and or other solvent will evaporate long before your shower water hits it. Once cured/dried, the sealer is waterproof.

I don't know...I posted a few days back and haven't heard anything from the breaktime crew yet, but calling around to several tile shops in my area yielded 2 main products: Miracle's 511 Impregnator and Stonetech's ImpregnatorPro.
Thank you for the recommendations. I still can't understand how something water-based can dry to be water-insoluble, but on further thought, I realized that I'd heard this before. It's said that milk will mend hairline cracks in a ceramic teapot, and the hot, acidic tea will not re-dissolve the seal.Janet
If you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not possible. Latex paint is water soluble but won't dissolve once dry (cured).
Dear Mr. Berruezo,I can't believe you went to the trouble of calling around! Thank you very much for your research.Your truly,Janet Yang
I vote for the 511 Impregnator. That's the one in the blue bottle that costs an arm and a leg yes? My wife put it on all of our grout with an old artists brush. It took several coats ~3 I think and kinda gives the grout the wet look.
Plus you get to giggle when your wife is using 'The Impregnator....'

Janet,
This post neve caught my eye, sorry for the tardy reply.
The Miracle already mentioned is an excellent product. Another excellent choice would be AquaMix's grout sealer.
If this is old grout, before sealing give it a good cleaning with a non-acidic cleaner like Oxyclean.
