Hey guys Im gonna be drilling into a concrete slab (backyard patio)to replace the patio cover supports 4x4s’. what do you think is the best hammer drill for the money. I’ve been checking out the prices of the 1/2 inch drills and their all about the same price. But are they the same quality?

*hilti gets good marks....but i like my hitachi...it replaces my AEG, semms to have a faster drill rate.. but of course the bits have more to do with that..watch out for labor.... a little bit of concrete drilling can make you wish you had called in a sub...
*Just make sure you get an SDS or better drill. I have a Milwaukee 5370-1 hammer drill that will work good in bricks, etc. It doesn't come close to a spline or SDS for concrete though. Doug
*b TVMDCI use Bosch SDS Plus for holes up to 1" and Bosch SDS Max for over 1" including core cutting up to 4-1/2". I've had the drills for about 5 years and they just keep working.
*thanks guys , I appreciate your advice. I decided to go with the millwaki. it did what I needed it to do.
*millwalkee is the choice for heavy duty work here
*My skil heavy duty hammer drill works wonders. It replaces my Metabo which served me well for 4 years. I would recommend skil to any contracter for two reasons: one, it is very cost efficient and two, for the cost it is a work horse.
