There they were. Renoing one room in a buddy’s house, mentioned I needed a couple, and was told I could have them.
Needed at least 18ft and just stopped and measured them as he’d just torn the building down.
28ft long 9×12 inch barn beams!
Had no time to investigate what species but my kitchen is going to carry a rustic look. heh heh
That’s all.
The end.

good score...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Great timing!
I should be good to go cantilevering 5 ft on each end for an outside porch roof then, aye?
aww c'mon! What are they?
Really, just drove by the pile on the way home and measured the length. He has a different pile that had the 18ft I needed.
Then week later he showed up with the others and I freakin' started getting excited.
That's pretty good. They don't let trees grow that tall any more.
Aint that the sad truth.
good deal...
it ain't really luck when you have a clue what you need... know what will work if you can't have exactly what you planned on... and are able to spot what would work in it's place...
it's almost an art... and it keeps this thing we do interesting...
sometimes i see something and know exactly where it will go even if it'll be 3 yrs before it gets there... sometimes i know i'll incorporate something i have... somewhere... it's just a matter of time when the perfect use for it presents itself...
congrats on your find
