How many days in a row do you need it?
I don't know about the 4 horse model but we have a 1 horse that cost $119 as a back up. Works fine. Noisey, not as strong as the Hitachi we have on the other truck but to do a little trim some air staples its fine. But I wouldn't buy one of those for everyday use as I do think you get what you pay for. DanT
I bought a 2 hp HF compressor 5 years ago. Oil bath. Replaced the pressure switch recently, other than that, it's been running fine. Gotta remember to change the oil some day...
I never met a tool I didn't like!

Thanks to all of you. I jsut need so sometimes I can carry around instead of that heavy 20 gallons I current have. I don't use them everyday. vn
I too bought the 2HP 8 gal oil bath...rolls around on its little cheapie front wheels. Got it on one of those 'sales' they perpetually hold..think I paid $99
I've completely framed my house with it, and it has never been other than a reliable workhorse. I think the pressure regulator is gunny-sack, as I've recently found that I can't get the delivery pressure under 120 lbs, which will be a problem when I start finish nailing.
As to relative strength, I hired a guy to help me sheath the roof and shoot in the 1 Billion SS Staples to hold on the 500 million siding shingles (ok...I'm exaggerating a bit, but 29 squares of shingles sure seems like 500 million). He used his Hitachi double-hot dog compressor, and his came on more often and ran longer than mine...and sure sounded like it was working harder.

Why do you prefer the 8 gallon over the 10 gallon, 90234? Anybody doubt that it will carry to rookies with roofing nailers?
