Hardie plank over 1 1/2 foam detail

I am trying to avoid problems with dual vapor barriers.I want to reside with 1 1/2 rigid foam under hardie siding in the Seattle WA area. Does anyone have a link to a good detail drawing that is IRC compliant? When I remove the existing siding will the existing building felt remain beneath the foam and furring as I will be applying a new layer to seperate the studs(furring) from the hardie plank. Thanks!

Hardi says the lap siding can be applied over foam up to 1 inch thick. I wouldn't even use fan-fold myself, since it's hard to get it to lay flat. If you're using furring you should be OK though. I would probably use felt or house wrap over the foam. I couldn't find any drawings either.

Thanks for the reply, I've seen the info from hardie for applying siding over foam up to 1" with a longer nail. I would like to get R 10 out of the foam thus the 1 1/2. I'm worried about trapping moisture inside the walls and would like to extend the brickmold out rather then the windows. Hoping that someone had already ironed out the details but thanks again for the help
Surround the windows with 2x trim, and apply brickmold over that. If you're lucky the old brickmold will be reusable. You will probably have to apply a sill extension also. I like using pvc trim (by Royal) since most wood is krap now.
Sparky,I would be a little concerned about the siding slipping downward a bit, what with the fasteners essentially unsupported for 1.5 inches. Might make for a somewhat sloppy final appearance. But that's just a thought, not based on anything I've actually seen.Steve
Thanks for the input guys. mmoogie, I'll be furring out with 1 1/2 material for nailers 16 o.c. , I don't like the idea of the nail "cantilevering " through the foam either. Mark I'll be furring around the brickmold for backing, what I'm concerned with is the brickmold projecting proud of the windows. Though I like the idea of the shadow lines and added visual thickness (like a wooden sash window) and not having to r & r all the windows I wondering if I'll get tagged for not flashing out the projecting trim edge. All the windows are under the roof edge so other then a driven rain I don't see a problem .
Thanks again
