I have hall way with a oak hardwood floor. We are planning to install a mahogany floor in a room off of the hall way. Any ideas how best to transition the color difference?
thanks

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Stop the flooring dead center of the door. When the door is shut you can't see where one stops and the other begins.
On the first piece of floor you can spline it in the groove and start your new flooring going in both directions.

Are the finished surfaces of the 2 floors going to come out flush? Are the boards on the 2 floors running in the same direction?
The boards will be in the same direction but not flush. Hall floor is standatd 3/4 and the new floor is 5/16. I thought whatever transition I would use I would shape it to transition netween the two heights,
