Hi,
I am building a little “food sharing shed” for the local food bank and am now at the roof. This is where my “figure it out as you go” ends. If someone can advise me about how to go about this, I would be ever so grateful. I have a *rough* idea, that I should make rafters and attach to a center board, but that’s about all I’ve figured out so far. You Tube videos seem to be really complicated…………. surely, this is simple, no?
I built it out of 5/8″ plywood, 2×2 corner supports and 1×2 shelf supports. Plan to sheath the roof panels with some asphalt shingles left over from building my house, and found some vinyl outside corner trim for the ends. The whole thing is supposed to be painted white.
Thanks for any advice.
Kris

You don't need rafters or a center board. Just use two pieces of plywood attached together at the ridge and attached to your little house at the eaves. Better yet use solid lumber for this since the edges can be left exposed. I wouldn't use asphalt shingles because the scale would be out of place including the thickness. I'd use some scraps of beveled siding to make minature shingles. Some 15# felt underneath should be fine for weather proofing. Make some little gable ends and shingle them too.
