I’m a homeowner that will be finishing off my basement this year. I intend to lay down a plywood subfloor over my basment slab to increase comfort/warmth. The basment is dry and has a 1-2″ french drain around the perimiter walls that leads to a sump (no pump as there has never been a need) Here’s my plan:
1. 1×2 pressure treated furring 16″ OC
2. Glue down furring and screw to concrete with TAPCON’s 32″ OC (4 per 8′ furring)
3. 1/2″ dow styrofoam in between, tape seams
4. 3/4″ TG plywood glued and screwed down
Questions:
–Ok to skip the Poly vappor barrier? I believe the styrofoam has a good perm rating when sealed with tape
–Do I need to lay furring around the entire perimiter of the basment?
–What type of adhesive for wood-to-concrete furring connection? Can I skip this?
–What size TAPCON’s 3/8 or 1/4? How many per 8′ furring strip?
–Drywall screws for plywood? What type, what size?
–How does overall plan sound- any thing else I should consider?
Thanks in advance
