Help with Selecting HVAC System(s) for New Home in Central Texas

Our new forever home is under construction in Central Texas. Home is just under 2900sf, single story, with primary living areas (master bed, bath, closet, etc.), kitchen/great room, and secondary bedrooms and bath on the opposite side of the great room. There is ample attic space to place supply and return ducts from primary living, past great room, to secondary bedroom areas. Home will be 100% spray foam insulated.
Contractor is giving me options, so many options my head is spinning, with very little in the way of explanation and/or recommendations.
Initial choices were single heat pump with good (single speed), better (two speed) and best (variable speed) systems. This design will employ a variable damper which will provide zoned control for each of the three living areas.
Next choice was for two systems, one for primary living, kitchen, and great room and a second unit for secondary bedrooms. Again, with good, better, best as with the single system.
Finally he is offering single AC with propane fired furnace.
When pressed for a recommendation, contractor responds with “It’s up to you, we can make any combination work”. Initial and recurring costs are certainly a factor, but my leaning is more toward spending the correct money, rather than the least money.
What do I need to know to make this choice? House is framed and rough in is starting very soon. Any advice is welcome, thank you in advance!

If you can handle the investment, the variable speed systems will provide better comfort overall, and will let you run the fan at a low speed for circulation with little energy cost.
You likely will want an energy recovery ventilator.
