I am considering using a high pressure unit that uses smaller diameter ducts as part of a restoration. The basement, which is now finished but has exposed rafters, doesn’t have the highest ceiling and I think that thinner ducts will be very helpful.
Any comments on the high pressure units? How well do they work? Price comparison? Recommended manufacturers? Thanks for your help.

Scott,
I presume you are refering to an air based HVAC delivery rather than hydronic (water).
There are 3 or 4 companies making high pressure (high velocity).
Space pac is probably best know but primarily used for AC but it does have an add on heat coil.
Check out Unico (they advertise in FHB regularly) and the one I selected and like Energy Saving Products 12615 124th St.

Work fine. A little noiser than Low or Med velocity but they fit well. The main supply duct will be between 6" and 8" round. The Flex ducts are insulated 2" so they need 4" holes because of the insulation. The air handlers are small. You'll need a boiler or HWH to supply the hot water to the coil.
Return ducts are 12" round usually unless you configure and design avenues for return air throughout the house without producting pressure imbalances.
