I'm not so sure how trustworthy it would be either.
I'll probably be one of the guinea pigs though
one thing I don't like is where and how the digital read out thing is located... looks like a good place to get it knocked off.
I was thinkin` similar....as for the guinea pig.....GO FOR IT!
I was a guinea pig when Makita introduced the first dual bevel to the market.....eight hundred clams.....but it was worth every dime. Still workin` like a charm!

I like the looks of that, its about time Hitachi made a fence that was tall enough to use. I always hated those short fences.
