I’ve got a bunch of renovation projects ahead. They’re always great reasons to buy more tools!
Do HD, Lowes, Woodcraft, etc typically have big sales around Christmas time? I need $$ things, like a power miter saw, portable table saw, tile saw, sawzall, and any other toys I can (try to) justify. I don’t need them all right now, but if now is the time to buy, I could buy them all at one once.
Thanks

You'll do much better if U buy factory reconditioned.
Browse the Tool Crib/amazon site.
Full factory warrenty ... good discount from their already discounted price.

past couple of years HD and BLowes have run a 10% for 2 or3 days right at Christmas. I think it was HD that started it, then BLowes scrambled to get ads done and on the air. Last year they both did the sale, but excluded some stuff, if i remember right (like big tools).
Here is a thread from last week with a list of reviews on all the major saws. Makita 10" came in first, in my opinion, and they have a nice rebate going until 12/31:

I was looking for the "Buy it now" option at $1,000. Maybe he'll be offering some sort of holiday sale.
I'd like to have that cabinet with the shaper cutters. And the wall of clamps.

How about it all...

Don't think I'd sleep for about two weeks if all that stuff was at my house.
Don't think I'd have a problem finding a coupla fellas to help me unload it all either!
Gonna ask my wife for 45K when she gets home.
I already did.

What do you think that shop is really worth? Individual tools totalled out.
I tried figuring it out, but ran into tools I didn't even know existed! I can't even guess what some of those vintage tools would be worth.
$45k delivered. Seems way much. Even with 10k of shipping seems like too much.
I tried to break it down in groups. Gut instict says 25 tops, delivered. Compare to forcloseuer or a fire sale...

Looks like his wife finally figured out what was in that old building out back.
"I promise, I just got a couple of new tools so I could build you a shoe rack"A shortcut is the longest distance between two points.
He's been trying to sell that for quite a while now. I like that edge sander, must weigh in at about the same as Sherman tank.
He would be better off selling the stuff in small batches at a local auction. Nobody has that kind of coin or needs all of those items. Didnt see a speck of dust, do you think he just waxed and buffed his tools on the weekends? Maybee he is getting them ready for a calendar shoot..
That shop must have been cleaned up for the photo shoot.
I've seen a few clean shops (mine doesn't qualify) owned by some of the women wood workers here. They're pretty anal about cleanliness but that guy's shop takes the cake.

I was reading that thread too. Great discussion. I was thinking that I *need* a 12" dual bevel, sliding, compound miter for 6" baseboard and my outdoor 4x6 projects. A lot of coin to be dropping though.
Sacrifice on the 12" or the dual bevel to save some $$??
Depending on where you're located, there may be a service center for a tool manufacturer nearby. I've got a Bosch service center in town, and they've got some good deals on reconditioned tools. I'm waiting for them to get the new 12" slide in. The rep there said it would be at least $100 off
