My mother is buying a sectional home and placing it on a lot with a basement and a future garage. I have been trying to figure out where to put the garage and house on the lot. The home is purchased off a lot and has no options for changing anything. Unfortunately the lot that we are putting it on slopes from east to west down hill about a drop of 4-5 feet in 150 feet. The house will be facing south, with front entry on south. Now the problem is that the best place for the garage is attached to the east side (high side) of the house. The home she is buying has the bedrooms on that end and a utility/mud room with door on the west end. The excavator that I spoke with said it would be best to make part of the west wall and corner of the south wall walk out basement, and put the garage either in the basement or detached on the east side. I am thinking of resale and not sure how it will be with detached garage. So in otherwords the home is 52×28 south facing with a sloping lot, slope to the west, door on west. I am not sure that my 1000 words can convey my picture, but there it is. Any thoughts? By the way, as always, money is a big factor as my mother is on social security.
