I have a customer wanting me to do some interior painting. I don’t normally do painting but in this case it is only one average size room maybe 20×24 with a vaulted ceiling. I explained I don’t paint very often so I’m not sure what to charge, she said just come up with a fair price and get started. What is a fair price? Do you charge by roof Sqft or by total wall space sqft. Thanks for any help.

How many colours and cutting in.
How much washing and prep.
How many coats.
How high the ceiling.
How many dogs and kids underfoot.
How's her cooking.
Excellence is its own reward!
I liked the "How's her cooking" part.
Aren't those the best type of clients?
In addition to Piffin's questions (and sorry if I duplicate some of them):
How long do you think it will take you to do one coat???

Works on Nantucket Island does ultra high end for $25-30 a foot interior painting.that said the real world is 5 to 10 a foot interior and when someone asks you to paint they usually mean everything not just the walls and ceilings so bid for it all or get someone who will.Piffin has all the right ?'s and if you don't ask them be prepared to lose money.Painting is what they see every day and they will dwell on a bad job no matter how good the construction was.
