I have been eyeing softplan for awhile (as a replacement for ACAD), trying to decide if it is indeed worth the investment. I have been monitoring several forums about softplan and I am almost convinced that it is well worth the money. I would like to thank Piffin for answering several of my questions thus far.
I just have one last unresolved issue however. How does the software handle the HVAC. I have never heard or seen any mention of this area. It is to important of a topic that I doubt it is not addressed. So if anyone out there has any comment on how Softplan handles the HVAC plan, and if not what do the designers do about it.
Thanks in advance,
Kyle

Unfortunately, it doesn't have an HVAC module.
That is unimportant to me because I have a heating engineer from the installers company do that planning. I usually use radiant in floor heat or baseboard heaters. Ducted heat or recovery systems or AC are rare here. When I do need a duct, I can indicate with a dased coloured box on plan to remind framers and mechanical subs where it will go, and the 3D renderings can have baseboard heat symbols showing, but LFt of ducting etc will not pop up in the materials list package, nor can you do an actual design of the system in SP.
In the electrical module you can do the electrical baseboard heaters tho, if that is how you heat.
Excellence is its own reward!
