OK I’m gonna try not to start foaming at the mouth but why is it the stuff that oughta be so simple seems to cause the most agida? For this project I’m doing I needed to find a source of wide (6 or 7″) light species (Larch, White Pine for example) flooring, about 500 sq ft, prefinished. Did some Internet searching and found a supplier in upstate NY that seemed to have good pricing and judging from them on the phone and email, very nice folks with good service. The sequence was something like this:
1) Show the client Larch samples, they love it… call to place order. Oooops, sorry out of stock for a long time.
2) Get samples of white pine, show client and explain differences. They go for it. Call to confirm price and stock, FedEx check. Next day I get an email, sorry out of stock for two weeks. Marginally acceptable I tell them, but not a day more. Next day’s email, sorry… actually 6 to 7 weeks. “Send me my check back immediately”
3) Call Hoboken Flooring from the recommendations here. They don’t quote price or even discuss stock unless you have an account. “Fine, how do I open one?” “Need to have the sales rep come to your shop.” Oyyyy, OK fine. “Well, he’s away for a week.”
So, I guess the bottom line is: Does anyone have any suggestions for a tristate area wood flooring distributor that offers good pricing, has what they say they do and doesn’t make me feel like the red haired stepchild to do business with them?
Thanks… (I feel much better now)
