Don’t know where this question belongs so I will try it here.
We have a well drilled at 400 ft and is pumping water from around 360. This is the second depth we are pumping from as the first depth (260) had a tremendous amount of iron in the water. It would turn tubs red in about 4 days! Had the well driller go deeper and found water without any iron but now we must deal with the Hydrogen Sulfide. It has been measured at 2ppm which will definently give you a good strong odor (rotten eggs). We had the Culligan Man put in a water condintioner which pumps air into the incoming water as it goes through the conditioner. We had to put bleach into the conditioner about once a month. This worked ok for about a year. We would still smell the gas whenever we used the bathroom sinks but nowhere else. Now the conditioner isn’t working, I’ve poured 3 gallons of Chlorox down the well (which works for about 2 days)and the smell of hydrogen sulfide permeates the house! I’ve had enough but am at my wits end on what to do. I can’t be the only one who has had this problem. Other wells within a mile of my house don’t seem to have this problem. Going deeper is a crap shoot and potentially very expensive. I need some advice.
