Here’s the story: 2 years ago my husband and I decided to tear off a porch before it fell off and replace it with an addition of a basement and one floor. After shopping around for a reputable GC that would take such a small job, we ended up doing most of it ourselves and subbing out the excavation, concrete, electrical and sheetrock (all the really good GCs had better things to do at that time). Anyway, part way through the process we decided to spend more of the budget on upgrades and put off finishing the basement room until later. Long story a little shorter, I found out today that we won’t have to pay for a new permit to finish the basement even though we got our certificate of occupancy last year – they are just transferring the old permit to a new number and we can finish the basement room all nice and legal for no additional fees. Hooray for the Lehi Building Permit office – my faith in the reasonableness of the system has just gotten a boost. I’ve always thought reasonable government something of an oxymoron, so this is a big thing for me.

Wow thats great Amy, I wish mines was like that. they'd find someway to get a buck outta me :)
*My building dept. is super, however the planning commision is, well let's just not go there. It took me over a year and a half to get the permit once the building dept. and zoning approved it.
*Frenchy - Sounds like you planning & zoning folks went to the same school as ours. I was asked to run for a vacancy on the board. I declined since I do not want ot lose any of my friends!
