Hello,
I need some advice. I am building a 3 story addition on the south and west side of my 100+ year old Queen Anne Victorian. The house is located about 60 miles north of NYC. I need to decide what kind of insulation to use in the 2X6 walls. While driving home from work yesterday I saw a truck from a company that sprays icynene foam. Their slogan was “someday everyone will insulate with icynene”. The rep says people use this stuff in walls and floors to form a heat and sound barrier. I always thought to have a sound barrier you need mass. Anyway, the rep also said it costs 3X what a fiberglass job costs but you make it back in energy savings over time and I’m not moving till I retire. Anyone have any experiance with this product?

Try searching the archives. Insulation has been discussed at length ver the past few months.
