Oh my... He was just a young pup.
I recall him contacting me several years ago after I made some of my first positive posts about tankless hot water units. He did a real nice article in TOH following up.
The world has lost a good one. I wish his family the best.
I never knew him. But I knew OF him.
Everything I heard said that he was a person you would be proud to call friend.
When I hear this sort of thing, I wish I could have taken their place. He obviously had a lot to offer. Better that he go on, and someone with too many problems get out of the way.
My condolences to his family at home, and at Taunton.
Do you have any idea how he passed ? (Or is that just too uncouth a question to ask ? I have never been real good at couthness.)
A good heart embiggins even the smallest person.

There was a very nice notice in the last issue of FWW.
"When I hear this sort of thing, I wish I could have taken their place. He obviously had a lot to offer. Better that he go on, and someone with too many problems get out of the way."
Maybe the higher powers have more for you to do, Its difficult to figure out whats going on at times.

i dont know what happened guys, i know he left tauntom sometime after my article(Counter Act) to return to maine
he was a fanatical sailor as i am and very much a family man
my fondest memory was driving with him from sarnia to kitchener ontario and back in my Jeep Comanche with 5 12 foot countertop blanks in the back in a willd snowstorm
it was during this trip that the byline "caulking is not a piece of trim" and no i cant remember who said it first
i remember Zach as a most professional editor and a good friend, the writing and photography he did was superb
can anyone at taunton give us any imformation? Brian or Andy?
an email address or real address for the family please?

no i have no idea what happened, ive been trying to email him for a while, no reply, i guess now i know why
couthness is not my strong suit either

Always tragic
the obit is at the bottem with a picturebobl Volo Non Voleo
Sounds like a great guy, husband & father. The picture in the obit shows a lot of personality. I wish I could have known him. We can't ever understand why the good ones are taken in such senseless ways, but I belive there is a plan. Condolences to his family.
Experienced, but still dangerous!
dave, he was a great guy, full of life and his family
and what he did to my rather crude manuscipt was amazing, i still have my origanal text and to compare them to the final printed article is mind boggling
and such an interesting guy too, we spent three days and infinite phone calls together
and in memorium:

I never knew him, though I'm sure that I must've seen his byline more than once.

That link shows that he was prolific as a writer/editor. He leaves something of value behind.
May we all so aspire to do and to be..
Excellence is its own reward!
well i guess that answers that mystery piffin, thanks for the info
i didnt realize he had gone to toh, he could have really made that rag into something
god damn truckers, what a waste
Did you notice there was an adress on the previously posted link at bottom of article?.
Excellence is its own reward!
Zack was definitely a good guy. I never worked with him directly during his years at Taunton but will always remember the sparkling lunchtime chats, the energy, the ready smile. His writing was first-rate: informative and engaging.
