I have owned one of these machines for about 6 years and, overall, like it a lot.
On the plus side, it does a great job of planing difficult woods like curly maple with virtually no tearout; the Tersa head makes changing knives a 2-minute job, tops; it takes up very little floor space; it's well made.
On the negative side: it's expensive, as you point out; infeed and outfeed tables are fairly short, so milling longer stock is a pain; you really have to stay on top of lubricating the plastic drive gear--if not, you'll melt it; although it doesn't take much time to switch from planing to jointing, it does take time. So if you switch from one function to another frequently that's also a consideration.

*I have recently bought a used Inca made in1984. I think its great, the perfect machinefor my home workshop. When I go from jointingto planeing I don't change the machine at all.Its easy to slip the board into the planer underthe outfeed table of the jointer. The guy I gotit from must have loved it because he had a brandnew one there when I was looking at the old one.I can't feel any snipe from the planer at all. Both jointer and planer work great.
*Mark Duginske the woodworking author (Band Saw book and others) has one in his shop from the photos. So making the assumption the pro type woodworkers don't use junk it must be OK.But a Delta DJ-20 8 inch long bed jointer and Delta 15" planer cost $1,300 and $1,100, respectively. A long bed jointer (76") sure would be nice. Seems like this Inca machine is more suited to luthiers or miniature makers or clock makers or anyone dealing mainly with smaller wood and needing extremely precise stuff.
