Am I missing something? YES, very much. Last I knew Inspired House Magazine was no longer being published. I miss it… have all the issues….why oh why is such a great publication no longer available? Or is it?

I miss it too. I just found out about it an issue or two before the end. I thought it was the best home-related magazine on the market!
I am hoping they will do more special magazines throughout the year, like the Inspired House Great Homes. Or, maybe they will re-launch with a Fine Homes (or something).... to rebrand it. With my marketing strategy background, I was surprised that they didn't stick with the "Fine" branding on the magazine. As you said, it is really the only one they addresses design. Most otheres are just decorating magazines.
Yes, Inspired House has unfortunately gone away. There are very few publications that focus solely on residential design, and inspired house was very good at it. I enjoyed the tidbits provided by Susan Susanka and the great space planning ideas. To the best of my knowledge there is no plan to bring it back. However that being said, Taunton has been publishing special books with many articles from Inspired House along with new information. One of them is (Smart Choices for your Home), I got it as soon as it came out, even though most of what is in it is in back issues of Inspired House. They also have a new book coming out called (Great Homes) which gets its roots from Inspired House. One more new book just out by the same people is (Outdoor Design and Living).
As an alternative you can look to Fine Homebuilding for some similar useful information but with a more straight to the point approach. I just got the book (Small Homes that Live Large) it is a great publication from the Fine Homebuilding people, they also publish an annual Houses issue that is a good resource for creative ideas.
I hope this is a help to you guys until Taunton brings back something like Inspired House, I LOVED IT.

thank you for all the information. I'll be looking for the publications you've named (I already have all the Inspired House magazines and keep re-reading them.

I went to the International Home Builders Show in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and Taunton (actually Fine Homebuilding) had a booth there. I went over and told them how much I missed Inspired House. The gentleman I spoke to said that Inspired House was back, but only on the newstand, not by subscription. He said I should be able to find it at any Barnes & Noble. I've been to B&N a couple of times and not seen it. I'm wondering if the guy was just thinking of the special editions you all have referred to and not the magazine per se. Anyway, it might be something to look into - would be lovely if it came back!
