Insulating Queen Anne with fancy paint
I’m remodeling a currently uninsulated attic.
I’m concerned about insulating the west facing gable, which is finished on the outside with multiple shake styles and colors. will the new insulated condition cause the paint to fail?

Your best bet would be to use a closed cell spray-in foam. It would be a built-in vapor barrier.
If not that, then be sure to include a good vapor barrier when you insulate. I might consider using unfaced fiberglass with a polyethylene vapor barrier, or one of the systems where you install a reinforced poly vapor barrier, strap the walls, and blow in cellulose.
hank you shep, I would use the closed cell,
I'm still concerned about the durability of the paint once the wall looses less heat to the inside. Luke
