I will be installing a pergo flooring system in the next month or two. I will be installing over a cement slab. The slab is an inch lower then the existing ceramic floor that is next to it. I am wondering if I can put the half inch blue rigid foam boards on the slab then the vapor barrier and then the floor. This should then raise the floor to the desired height.

sounds good to me.
use spray foam to glue the foam to the crete and at seams and you have the VB done.

I had to build up a floor almost 4 1/2 inches....I used just that, but finished with a layer of 1/2 inch ply. but then, it was a kitchen, and the dishwasher was 1/2 on and 1/2 off this new section of floor....three years down, and no problems yet...plus that floor is much warmer than it used to be...LOL
The foam board might not be sufficient - call Pergo.
You might consider using dri-lock (?)panels (not the paint) - they'll help protect v moisture and keep the floor surface warmer than a straight install on cement

rjw recommended dry-lock panels. I think he meant dricore panels, which would be a good alternative. They are 7/8" thick.

The only Pergo-like flooring I ever put down was by Wilsonart, and it went over a thin foam sheeting, which gave the floor a nice slight "cush" when walked on. Really nice.
With 7/8 Dricore and the foam sheet, there's yer inch!
Follow up afterward and tell us how it went.
