   IMHO, if its a one shot deal, use a brush and roller. Save your money.

   *I agree. Save your money, get some GOOD rollers, brushes, poles, and roller cages (e.g., NOT Home Depot), and spend that extra money on a nice trip to a movie and dinner. Good airless sprayers (e.g., Titan), sell for a grand or more, and you can blow a tip in a split second and be out another $30. My painter uses an airless for walls and ceilings, and an HVLP for trim, doors, etc. But then again, she's spent some bucks putting that business together. If you're not going to do this again at least TEN times, go the roller way...

   *I usually insist that the walls be rolled after spraying on paint. For trim, either lacquer/poly or paint it is very difficult to get it right with an airless. If you are good you can. High gloss, dark finish is a bear. HVLP is slightly more forgiving. By the end of 1700 sq ft you should be up on the learning curve.You can also rent this equipment.

   Robert I'm one of those carpenters who is dangerous with a brush in my hands but I recently used a HVLP machine and was happy with the results and time. Skip

   Does anyone have experience using airless or HVLP painting tools? I need to prime & paint a new 1700sf house, and am looking to get the best quality for the time invested. I probably won't tackle any jobs this large after this.
