I have a question about an article in this month’s issue from the Drawing Board featurewrittenby Sarah Susanka. On pg. 38 there is an illustraion of a shelf with a hidden bracket, and I saw a similar bracket used recently on ” Trading Spaces”. I have checked the local home centrs for a similar bracket but can’t seem to find one. My question is,” Is this something that has to be custom made, or am I looking in the wrong part of the store”? It seems to me I remember the carpenter on trading spaces saying that this was a common item[ but not made for shelving so to speak]. Anyone out there who can point me in the right direction?

Check out IKEA. Trading Spaces uses lots of their stuff. The name of the shelf you are talking about is "Lack" shelving. All of their products have Swedish names.
Anyway, you can see IKEA's website at ikea-usa.com
Have fun!
Thanks for the info, I'll check it out pronto!
Hafele also has hardware for this.
