Still working on my small cottage and about ready for floooring. I thinkinng about ipe which looks a lot like teak, but costs a third as much. Advantage Lumber in Buffalo sells kiln dried, t&g 1X5 ipe flooring for $4.50 sf, so the price is about the same as jatoba or even native hardwoods, but it’s so dense (ipe doesn’t float!) that I’m thinking that installation and finishing are going to be tough. I’d appreciate any thoughts/ ideas about ipe or alternatives which would give my place a nautical look. Thanks!
