Is Kilz waterproof or what is .. finish paint…. edge protection
Hey … dumb problem …
So the shop is going sloooooooow …. I have been rained on a few times … no great for OSB
OK, can’t just cover over 3500 sq ft of building …..
It looks to me like only the cut edges of the OSB are taking a hit.
No pealing on the sheets or on the painted factory edges.
So, thinking to myself, can I just paint the edges I cut .. like around the windows is where I am really noticing damage …..
I don’t need it to last long … just a few months …..
Kilz primer … or oil based trim paint or ???????
I don’t want a stain with oil and wax as I need the flashing tape to stick to it.
Any suggestions ???
Thanks!

Why dont you install your housewrap or tar paper now. How long do you plan on leaving the OSB exposed?
Problem ... roof still won't be on for 2 - 3 months.
Water can still get in from the back side.
As I said, window edges seem to be the only place taking a bit of a hit.
I just found 5 gallons of old oil base paint (prob 4-5 years old ... unopened) ... thinking this may do the trick???

Yes, that old paint will be better than nothing. Go to the paint store and buy all their exterior misfires, mix them together and coat the whole building. Or, if your city has a paint recycling center you may get for free from there. It'll be beige.
Hmmm .... didn't even think of that. We do have recycled pain for sale ... right at the dump (sorry recycle center). It is cheap.
Again, I am not trying to get through a year ... just a few months. Building this place by myself is sloooooooow going.
Just FYI ... not sure if you saw my previous post ... here is a link to the project .. think there are 5 video's up now .. plus one "oops" video (dropped a wall).
