I’ve got a couple of young boys that really do a job on the baseboard heat in the family room. On rainy days it is the only room in the house we let them wrestle and play in. Typical baseboard really doesn’t hold up well to abuse at all. The covers are always knocked off and the end caps are normally lost. Is there some sort of tough baseboard heat I can use to replace what I have with? I know there is cast iron, but it’s expensive, you need special tools to pull the sections together and I’m not sure I could mix that with other heat in the zone. Is this the only alternative?

I checked into this a while back, and I found some commercial grade stuff at Grainger. Tougher, but not that pretty, or inobtrusive.
There was an article in FHB some years ago about a guy who made some oak covers for baseboard radiators. They looked seriously stout to me. Search the article index at the FHB home page.
There's a business opportunity here. I've never went into a rec room (should I say wreck room) with little boys around where the baseboard doesn't get beat up. Thought for sure there would be some standard solution out on the internet somewhere.
Thanks for the responses.

You could try cast iron baseboard.
A little pricey, but I don't think the boys will be denting that.
There is a prison grade but very expensive, better to give the kids a heads up?
