The point is I can buy a engine with the starter assembly for around $400 but to buy just the assembly it cost $425 dont see the logic in that.
And sorry about my typing and being to vague but if you dont like the thread why waste your time typing snotty remarks, just move on i guess it makes you feel superior.

This reminds me of what happened when I didn't take proper care of one of my tools.I had a 3-4 year old power washer and the pump shot craps (probably as the result of me not storing it properly)I hadn't used it very much and it had a 5 HP engine which was in excellent condition.I called the company and the price of the replacement pump was the same as purchasing a new power washer.I bought a new power washer instead of fixing the old one.^^^^^^

I'm not even gonna look. OEM replacement parts pricing for just about anything, from a little handheld power tool up to an airplane, is always such that if you added up all the parts and their price, a full rebuild would cost you over ten time what the original machine cost. Maybe twenty.
my lawn mower starter system bit the dust about five years ago. that piece was high too. I found one of those attachment from a rotor tiller that lets you wrap arope around it. It works. I just keep a rope in my pocket. also nobody will borrow the mower either.
