John Deere Power Tools

ETG | Posted in Tools for Home Building on May 17, 2002 09:25am

Latest issue of Wood Digest, May 2002:

“John Deere introduces power tools line”

“John Deere has announced the company is now offering a line of power tools.  Included in these professional-grade John Deere power tools are battery-powered, cordless and corded models.

‘Our new power tools are backed by an exclusive two-year warranty against material and component defects.  That’s unprecedented in an industry where six-month warranties are the norm,’ says Chris Spyrow, senior product manager, John Deere senior product manager, John Deere parts marketing.  ‘These tools are designed and built for serious users: service technicians, contractors, farmers, and serious do-it-yourselfers.’

The new line of John Deere power tools includes impact wrenches with impact rate up to 3,000 ipm, two cordless driver drills (14.4-volt and 18.0-volt), heavy-duty disc grinders, circular saws, jig saws, compound miter saws, sanders and a 1/2-in variable-speed reversible hammer drill.”

    That's sick.

    Really, really sick.

I guess they're like craftsman ? Buying everybody else's tools, and putting their name on them ?

Won't find either of those brands in my house.....

      You tell'em Boss:

Talk about bait and switch, even one of my old JD crawlers doesn't have a johnny engine, it's got  a GM! (at least they didn't try using Ford engines<G>. )

A former big box store out here (Pay'n'Pak) went belly up a few years back, my opinion of what trashed them is they were trying to sell China imports with fancy labels at 80% the price of PC/Milwaukee, etc., didn't take long for folks to catch on.
