I am getting conflicting info on laying laminate flooring over concrete. Some say to tape the seams of the vapor barrier, others say not to. Does anyone have experience with this?

I dont but why are you concerned ?
Any moisture?
I normally lay a sheet and cover it up as I prefer not to work on it any more than I have to.

Are you using the undelayment that is the foam and vapour barrier in one? That's what I'm using with mine in a walk-out basement. I plan on taping all the joints, and taping it around the perimeter as well. We'll see how long the floor lasts, I know laminate isn't recommended in a basement. We have good drainage, and good soil, so we'll see how it goes.
The manufacturer says the seams of the vapor barrier must be taped, but Danny Lipford on TV says not to tape them. Any experience with one or the other method?

I just know that the underlayment is not water proof.
So what are we trying to do in taping it ?

"The manufacturer says the seams of the vapor barrier must be taped, but Danny Lipford on TV says not to tape them. Any experience with one or the other method?"What brand of Laminate was Lipford using?
What kind of underlayment and/or vapor barrier was Lipford using?
What was the condition and type of slab that Lipford was putting this on?And last, but not LEAST, who is waranteeing the laminate - the manufacture or Lipford? He may be right FOR THE EXACT CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH HE WAS WORKING or he may not, but what does that have to do with your project.
Follow the manufacturer's installation guidelines. Assume all conc. slabs on grade will wick moisture through. All manufacturers have a specific install plan for this condition. This will help to preserve your warantee.

#1 Danny Lipford is an IDIOT! How do I know? He lives not far from me, I know some of the people that work for him, and I see his segment on the morning news every AM. He ought to go into politics, that's all I can say!
#2 DO what the manufacturer says. That way if there's ever a warranty claim, you can show that you followed manu's instructions.
#3 I normally tape the seams on a concrete slab with clear packaging tape...if you wanted to be really fancy you could use window tape. If it's on a wood floor, I don't tape.
#4 As someone else suggested, can we really waterproof the underlayment?
