Hi
I am adding on an upstairs bathroom and want to have a shower large enough for 2 people, not with a bathtub, and not tile. But it seems that all the pre-formed showers are no wider than 32 or 33 inches. I was thinking of something more square-shaped, but the standard showers just get longer without getting wider (e.g., 60 inches by 32 or 33). I did find those handicapped showers, one is 60 x 36, thought I could get it without the fold-down seat, grab bars, etc, just the mold to get the right shape/size, but my contractor says that without a front lip there will be water splash (as an upstairs bath, no point in making it handicapped accessible, just thought perhaps that is the only way to get something wider than the standard?) Don’t want to do tile. Other options? Way to create a lip on the handicapped shower stalls?
Thanks

Alot depends on how much you want to spend. I re-did a shower in my old house this year. Took out the tile and base and put in a Viking acrylic. 48" wide, 3 piece side walls. Jeff Buck suggested it and it worked great. BTW, thanks Jeff!
Jacuzzi also has shower base that large.
Yer welcome Frank...glad to hear I knew something once!
For the original posted......if you absolutely can't find a shower unit the size you want.....and absoultely don't want tile....
Can we sneak in a little tile...on the floor?
The take a look solid surface walls out of something like swanstone?
That's give you the flexibility to frame it any size ya want....pour a dry pack floor with custom curb.....
then mosaic tile the floor and sheet the walls.....you might have to throw in a batten on the walls depending on the size you want.....but would make for a large custom shower of any shape and size.
Run this by your contractor if you can live with a tile floor.
