Leveling slag sand for a flagstone patio
Any tips on leveling the base for a flagstone patio? I’ve put down 4″ of 6AA limestone, filterfabric, and 4″ of slag sand. Power compacted both the 6AA stone and the sand. Fairly level but there are noticable high and low areas.
Now I need to assure a relatively level surface. How is this best accomplished?

Screed it...
set a pair of 10'X1" conduit pipes at the required elevation using a laser or water level. Then drag a straight 2X4 or similar straight edge across the top of the pipes. If you had screeded the 4" of sand prior to compacting, it would have been fairly level. But you can still correct the hi's and lo's by cutting or filling in.
