Looking to put shallow beams in a kitchen similar to the picture. Room is about 19 ft long x 14 ft wide, beams would go the short way. Question: how woul;d you integrate lighting into this ceiling? What would look best? Recessed cans centered between the beams? Or what style of surface mount fixtures?

Similar to what picture?
edit: There it is.
It would help seeing the cab layout, whether there's a peninsula or island. The beams will com into play, but what you're going to light is the most important consideration Might be a good place for general lighting (cans) in a pleasing layout re. beams and then some low voltage small floods and pendants according to the cabinet layout.

You could "faux bois" the DW beams, if you prefer
