On Monday I am going to put up three 48″ double bulb florescent fixtures in a friends shop. The room is 12′ x 20′. The plan is to run them parallel to the 12′ wall. In my mind, I think I should devide the length of the room (20′) into three equal units (sub-lengths? – 6’8″) and center the fixtures within. Or, from the wall, 3’4″ – fixture – 6’8″ – fixture 6’8″ – fixture – 3’4″ – wall. Got it? Well, in the back of my mind, I seem to recall an obscure formula or rule of thumb for this kind of exrecise. I dont suppose it will make much practical differance but if anyone knows the trick I would appreciate being clued in.
