I am designing a house to have a built in window seat/bench and was looking for some kit or system that would allow me to put a fold up bed inside of it, preferably a queen size bed/mattress. I am thinking along the lines of the way a hide away bed works in a sofa. I tried searching around the net and all I seem to find is Murphy beds which is not what I am looking for. A Murphy bed would block the window all together.
Has anybody ever seen or installed a fold up bed in a built in seat?
Appreciate any help or comments that could point me in the right direction.

danno, all I know of hide a bed couch you could put in a thimble. However, I was asked to repair the arms of a couch that the "boys" had trashed. The insides were pretty simple and only needed the wood frame to fasten to. If you could find an old one and salvage the guts, or contact a furniture manufacturer, they might point you to the mechanicals distributor.

Thanks.
I was just starting to think about finding an old hide away bed sofa and taking out the guts like you sugested.
Appreciate it calvin.
Whatever you do, update the mattress. Slept on a hide a bed too many times. Good idea, poor application.
Another thought if the guts doesn't work. Find some plans or design yourself around the idea of the old hippie vans. Had one myself which was pretty simple hinged ply bench that folded out to a two passenger. The cusion on the back became the other sides mattress. If the window it's by is high enough off the floor, the feet for the fold out bed could be a fixed back to the seat. I've got the plans in my head, if you need 'em let me know.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Can't recall the issue# but there was a very short FH article with pictures featuring a bed that folded up into the wall and it included plans.
I thought it was a very good foldaway platform bed design that used a regular mattress.

Just got done looking at your web site, very impressive work, Nice designs.
Oh and my compliments to your photographer!
Doug
Thanks Doug for your nice compliments. I'm the photographer. Although a few of the photos are digitized from older 35-mm prints, most are from my digital Canon G3. At under a thousand dollars, it's a pretty good camera, but complicated enough that I'm still learning to use it after a year of photography. It's great for available light and many of my shots are hand held, though for the best results I put it on a tripod and control it from my laptop.Namaste,

Gary your slogan reminds me of a saying an old carp sometimes used. 'Old world craftmenship, new world prices'
Would I scare 'em away or reel them in if I change my slogan. My son came up with the wording.Gary
