Hello All-
Looking for a good vacum with plenty of *suction* power.
My consideration so far is the Fein, PC, Dewalt and the Festo.
If I had the money, Festo seems like a real sweet machine but
at $345 with no accessories…that’s something to think about.
Anyways, if you have any preferance or experiance with one, please
post your thoughts. Looking to use this with all sorts of use-
drywall dust
hooking up to 1.5 hose to power tools- primarily sander
sawdust
water…when I’m working on plumbing and the need arises

When it comes to shop vacs my money goes to Sears. I've owned three vacs, two Sears, one Rigid, and used Shop Vac and PC brands. The Sears vacs just kick ass. Plenty of power, picks up everything in sight, and last forever. With the Rigid you have to go over the same spot three times, and the Shop Vac died after a year. The only thing the Sears doesn't have is the power tool switch/outlet, but I think you can buy one to hook up to it.
The PC is a good one also because it uses a bag inside which collects the fine dust very well. I use it with the drywall attachment. It's great.
I've seen the Fein in use. Real nice. Quite. But $$$$.
*Chris took the words outta my mouth. Just about the only thing Craftsman I buy anymore. Got a 12gal., 4.25HP(right in front of me at the moment). This replaces my old(really old) Craftsman. I fire got the biggest one they had(two yrs ago), with the detachable blower, but turned it on at home and my ears started to bleed! It was kinda loud. Took it back, and told the girl why I was trading it in. She said, But they're all loud.....then I plugged it in and turned it on! The store came to a stop! .....so my advice.....at the store....find a plug and test suck it. I'm plenty happy with the one I have now. Big, fat hose and plenty of power. Upgrade to the drywall dust filters from the woodworkers store and even the fine dust stays in it. Can't beat it for the money...and don't think ya could for twice the money. Jeff
*Shop Vac is cr@p. Just bought a 10 gal. PC from Amazon/ToolCrib. Expensive, but quite, powerful, long hose, long cord, tool plug, etc. So far, so good.
*bought the fein 9-55-13..with the auto switch that turns it on and off when the tool plugged into it is activated...lots of suction.... and QUIET.. great for remodeling, a little small capacity for big jobs ..but if you plug a makita fiber-cement saw into it , you'll love it..if you plug a sander into it... your customers will love it....
*The Fein vacuum is one sweet machine. And so is the long hose. The hose is semi-transparent when you shine a flashlight through it, thus requiring only seconds to locate the blockage. A quick bend of the hose and you are back in business. It is expensive but everything that goes in the machine stays in the machine.
*Get the craftsman stuff...they have a nice 16 gal model i like that converts to a 210mph blower so you can clean gutters and start your own huricanes. Plus they now carry those super filters for dry wall dust for about 30 bucks...cant beat the combo. I have tried.
*For the abuse they take, I've always used the Sears. Can't beat them, except when one wheel falls off. They could design that a little better.Ed. Williams
*Have a small Italian made Japanese, stainless 7.5 gal, 8 amp, quiet good sucker.RP30SA
*The wheels are the pits, mount your Craftsman onto the cheapest handtruck you can find (I replaced the 6" wheels on the handtruck with 10" barbeque wheels, goes up stairs now). Put your accessories into those "permanent" shopping bags and hang them on the front and put a couple of velcro straps on to contain the hose (I bought a second hose to give me some working length).
