Hi there,
I’m reroofing our screened-in porch and its slope is about 2″-12″. It joins the main roof (which is 4″-12″ slope) of the house. the joint linking the 2 roofs leaks every rain fall, and spring. IKO makes a product that seems ideal to redo the low slope roof (Its called ROOF FAST). But it doesn’t solve the joint problem.
Would it be overkill to tuck a waterproof membrane under the 30lb tar paper at the edge of the 4-12 roof so that it straddles that joint? I guess I can only tuck it in about 5″ or 6″ ’til it reaches the point where the asphalt shingles are nailed. I would then apply the ROOF FAST. Then I would put a wide aluminum strip the length of the joint that would be tucked in under the shingles and over the ROOF FAST.
How’s that?
Thanks for any response,
Dan
