Looking for info on the Lutron Maestro Dimmer Kits.
Doing a kitchen with magnetic low voltage cans, some regular incandescents, and halogen electronic low voltage pucks for under cab lighting.
We are planning on putting the mlv cans on one circuit, and the elv pucks and incandescents on another. The tech at Lutron says this is okay.
The mlv circuit has 3 switch locations, we were planning to place the dimmer in the middle of the switch run. The instructions say to place it at the end of the line, but Lutron Tech says it does not matter where you place the dimmer.
I would like to avoid having buzzing, crackling, snapping dimmers and lights-like that scene where Dr. Frankenstein is bringing his creation to life, every time the client turns on the light.
I have never seen this in FB, but whenever I do kitchens, I have begun using 4x4x4 grey plastic junction boxes, one for each lighting run. I drill holes for the romex clamps. On this job I used 3 boxes, they work great because they are so spacious. I place them in one location, and identify each one, and enclose a copy of the wiring diagram that I used. I placed this set up on top of the joists, but in the future I am going to build a vertical wall, something fast and simple, and place it there instead.

I don't think you can have a "4 way" dimmer switch. This is why it gets installed at the end of a circuit. Where the end is, is up to you. You will need some extra wire to get to the "center" box.
I faxed my wiring diagram to tech support at Lutron. They were super nice and helped we work out the wiring. With the Maestro you can have a dimmer on what was previously a mechanical 4-way switch. The Maestro technology is pretty cool, and the Lutron tech support is very helpful.
"I don't think you can have a "4 way" dimmer switch. This is why it gets installed at the end of a circuit. Where the end is, is up to you."That is not exactly true. While there is no such thing as a 4 way dimmer you can write it with standard 3/4 way switches and then have that feed a dimmer. That is all that 3-way dimmers are. A dimmer combined with a 3-way switch. However, the Maestro and other Smart Switches are completely different. The only have ONE switche and dimmer in the system. The others are slaves that send commands to the master telling to turn on or off and to dim or brighten. They can have up 10 units and use would would have been travlers for the signaling..
