After years of working on other folks’ houses we are finally building our own. We are thinking of building a front porch like the one featured on the July 2000 (No. 132) cover of Fine Homebuilding. It uses t&g mahogany flooring. Like that porch, ours will be covered, with 16″ overhang. We live in the hot and humid south, though, and have concerns about it buckling or rotting. Has anyone used this stuff in an exterior environment, and if so, how did it hold up? Any other suggestions?
