i have 3/4 in solid walnut hardwood flooring installed in my house and it is beautiful. I want to keep it that way! I have read and heard many different ways to maintain it on a daily basis and preseve it for many years. Most of the advice has been from someone who is trying to sell me a product.
Can any of you give me some sound advice based upon your technical knowledge and personal experience????

Take your shoes off at the door. Provide a big enough mat for that purpose.
Don't have dogs.
Give your guests slippers upon entry-call it something you picked up while in the orient.
Don't have guests.
Pad all furniture legs, feet, anything-with soft pads. Check pads regularly so a grain of something doesn't get on it.
Don't use Murphys Oil Soap to "wash" the floor.
Pave the driveway and don't use salt.
Don't place plants anywhere near the area.
or use faux greenery.
Not sure about walnut, but throw rugs (anything on floor) will leave hue differences in the color. Cherry is notorious. Cherry will even out with time once removed.
Install those velvet covered ropes as necessary.
LOL....red velvet ropes...
Stilleto heels get checked at the door.
Dogs and kids learn to play outside.
Damp mop it with water and 15% white vinegar only
What kind of a finish is on it now?
good luck
