Got the new Makita lithium ion driver/drill on the porch Monday …
started a kitchen demo on Wed … existing cab’s to be given a new home somewhere else … so all had to be unscrewed and saved.
Pretty good work out for a new cordless drill.
It’s pricey … I paid $309+ …. but so far … I really like it.
good balance … all day comfort grip.
the batt’s came holding a charge … first one lasted close to 8 hrs.
I swapped out and loaded the second to finish the day.
got home … put the run down one in the charger … and it lasted the whole second day. I didn’t run the drill all day/both days … unscrewed then had to stock their garage … and I also didn’t work the drills hard as unscrewing is easier than screwing … but I’d say they got a fair work out.
I’m impressed so far.
The drill has 2 goofy little lights I’d have ax’d if I was on the design team. They come on when U pull the trigger … found myself appreciating them when burying my head into the back of a deep cab. It’s a feature I like now.
Gotta have the drill pay for itself first .. then I’ll move on to the cir saw.

I love the saw, and the hammer drill is handy. I also got a mail in rebate for the sawzall. But you are right about the extra batteries. I haven't been able to even find spare batteries individually.

I've seen them on Ebay for around $40 individually. If you have any poo, fling it now.
Thanks. Why do you reckon they're so cheap?

I don't know. I always wonder if they fell off a truck somewhere. They are brand new, so I doubt they were stolen from a jobsite.
I wonder if people bought the kits when they were on sale at Home Depot, and are selling the pieces to turn a profit. I've seen all the tools listed individually without batteries. If you have any poo, fling it now.
Yea that makes sense. Like parting out a car. More profit in pieces then the whole thing.

P.S. I thought the lights were gay at first too. I was actually thinking about removing them. But I I have seen the light so to speak. Pretty handy.

One of my subs got one. After two days of use, he took his old DW and threw it in the corner, told my hired helper he could have it for free but that he'd need to buy a battery or six for it.

I've been eyeing up the Makita lithium ions as well. Can't justify just yet, but hopefully soon.
Felt the same way as you about the lights on one of my Panasonic impact drivers - saw it in the store and thought it was a bit of a gimmick - want them on everything now - especially my jigsaw
