I bought a Makita 18V Li-ion drill drivera few months ago, and I’ve burned up two chargers on it already. Same symtoms both times…very noisy fan, then stops working altogether.
I bought it locally, so they’ve swapped out the charger on the spot both times, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The charger they gave me this time came from the same kit but has a different shap and model number.

As a matter of fact, that sounds very much like my charger. We should ask around.
The tools work well, but I think the chargers are ####. My first one smoked on 12/22/06 just after I opened the box and started to charge my new toys. I didn't get five minutes.
The replacement is not charging batteries now (under a year in use). I can tell because the backup charger is charging then fine. Odd noises, red lights stay on forever.
Good words for Ace Tools (acetoolonline.com). This was Friday, start of the Christmas holiday and they had staff manning the phone. I figured I was dead in the water until after the holiday. However, I got immediate service. No fuss. They had one out here on the Left Coast by Wed. of the next week.
