I’ve just sprung for a Makita LS1212 for a large exterior stain-grade siding job. I’ve used these saws before but never really paid attention to the miter scale, other than the angles themselves.
I’ve noticed markings of 1/10, 2/10, etc. on through 9/10– it doesn’t make sense that these are roof pitches, and there’s no explanation in the limited manual that was supplied.
Anyone able to enlighten me? Thanks…

Where are the markings? Miter scale, bevel scale, fish scale...?

Well, as I said... the miter scale.
Sorry ... my brain was on hold.
You sure it's not related to roof slope? Here's the approx degrees vs slope ... see if it matches:
2:12 = 9.5*
4:12 = 18.5*
6:12 = 26.5*
8:12 = 34*
10:12 = 40*
12:12 = 45*

OK, one more time.... they're not 12's, or it'd be obvious.. they are-- 1/10,2/10,3/10,4/10,5/10,6/10,7/10,8/10 and 9/10, all within 45deg. of 0 on either side. On the right side, which turns to 60 deg., these stop at 45.
Maybe it's metric...
how dose the 9/10 line up to the degrees? is the 9/10 close to 41.98 degrees
5/10 does that line up close to 26.56 degrees
One of these days I need to learn how to read.
But anyway ... why you asking us? You're the one who bought a tool that you don't fully understand. Don't you listen to Norm "Before using any power tool, be sure to read..."

Could these be a vernier scale. Is the 0-10 marks oposite the 0-45 markings?
Here is how to read them;
