Hey there experts and master builders! I have a finishing question for you…
How do I fix a 2’x2′ hole in my ceiling left by an exploring plumber? I’m fine with placing blueboard, getting the elevation right and so on, but the ceiling has one of those swirled patterns in the plaster, looks like it was made with a coarse brush. How do I get a reasonable match for the patch? Is it even possible?
thanks in advance,
Eric

get this problem often where second floor water leaks onto first floor ceiling
Patch hole evenly then use either a brush or sponge with mud as per origional method
Apply latex Kilz paint over entire ceiling to blend everything in
As I feared, it sounds like it's up to me and my artistic skills to achieve some sort of match. I imagine that a seamless patch will be difficult. Thanks for the replyEric
Ask around some of the home improvement and hardware stores in your area. There is usually a guy who specializes in this kind of matching work.
Yep! you can get yellow page or ask a friend for the "Plaster"............

Use a flat paint, hides the irregularities in texture. Any gloss only highlights the texture. BTW, if you're a little creative, sponge-painted finishes hide just about everything.
My dentist has a photo where you're looking up at trees. Stick one of those over it (!) as a conversation piece it's better than Elvis on black velvet.(!!!)
