What methods do you use to do material take-offs? Are there any formulas? I’ve heard of the 1 stick per foot of wall for studs. Any other ways to tell how much you’ll need? How about for trim work?
Thanks for the input.

When I started, a local yard gave out rulers with the qtr inch scale on the back. Across from that was 16 oc layout. Laid that on a print and counted. Or, give it to the yard and let them do the take off. Our locals do a good job and no extra cost. Casing, I'll count doors and windows/list sizes. Base, crown etc add all the scaled numbers. Account for waste and order. I'm not a homebuilder but on occasion I'll trim a whole house. This is not speed oriented, but it is accurate. Things not readily available take a bit of care in ordering.
