I have gotten a lot of good advice here, and certainly one of the best suggestions was to use the screws from McFeeleys. I got the 1200 screw assortment, and am now in the process of a second order to fill gaps and buy 1000 lots of a couple of sizes.
I used some #10×2″ to put up superstrut brackets in the garage over the weekend. I have no qualms about loading those sheleves now, or even in trying to do chin-ups on them.
However,
A few weeks ago I was looking through the fasteners at the Orange Box, and came across some by a company called Western States Fastening Systems. They are black like drywall screws, but use a square drive. They say there is a web site on the box, but it came up 404, as did a google search. Anyone use these? They are pretty inexpensive, like $2 for a 1lb box, and I like the fact that I don’t need to change to (ie find) a Philips bit for times when a “drywall” screw would suffice. I haven’t snapped any heads yet, so I was curious to see if they were of better quality than drywall screws.

As I interpret the ICBO report on their web site, they are drywall screws.
